The Power of Policy

Policing travelers isn’t necessarily fun. Travelers can be a noisy bunch, especially when they don’t get their first choice of travel options. It is, however, critically important to the success of your program.

With the new Travel Policy Engine from GetThere, you have the ability to build more flexible rules that meet the needs of your program – and won’t necessarily put out your travelers – with relative ease.

This new, rules-based policy engine gives you much more granularity in how you craft your travel program. Policy administrators have an almost unlimited capability to define and construct unique and potentially complex policies. That means you can have a greater influence on how your travelers make decisions about shopping and booking. Administrators can even modify rules to reward travelers for good booking behavior.

How is the engine easy to use? We’ve given the interface a facelift and added flexible, user-friendly templates that administrators will quickly learn to use and love.

You can set rules to apply to specific geographic areas and user profile data, so someone traveling to Chicago in one department may see different options than someone from another department.

When managing policies, you can set variables, operators and thresholds and apply them at the rule level. Set specific conditions and expected behaviors at the rule level, too. The engine resides independent of the GetThere site administration application, eliminating dependencies and allowing for much faster implementation of new rules.

The result is a fast, convenient solution for configuring a very custom travel program across a variety of geographic parameters and traveler profiles. Making the rules has never been so enjoyable.

This is very helpful to giving our client control of what they want to control.  I look forward to seeing how this develops into a mobile application as well!
