History

Internet Travel Network

GetThere was founded in 1995 by Dan Whaley and Bruce Yoxsimer in Palo Alto, Calif., under the name Internet Travel Network.

The company offered the first website that allowed users to book their own travel reservations. Incorporated in 1995, we were the first web-based provider of live, real-time travel reservation services and set the industry standard for online booking engines.

GetThere also became the first authorized direct website connector to the Apollo reservation system in 1995. We operated the first multi-GDS platform with interfaces to Apollo, Galileo, Abacus, Amadeus, Sabre, and Worldspan, and now have customers operating on all major GDSs.
